Watch the film, or take over

Moonwick opens on autofly: a film of two to three minutes over the lake, through the castle and out to the hills, a different way every night. Drag to look around. Press a key or touch the stick and you are flying, through walls too. Autofly waits until you call it back.

Real footage: the first 30 seconds of one night, recorded from Moonwick in a browser, with the app's controls drawn on top.

HOW A NIGHT GOES

  1. From the game: Loru over the lake at night, the castle on its cliff ahead, the moon behind its spires and a little dragon in the sky.

    Look around

Meeri hides somewhere new every night, and the film passes her spot as she peeks. Watch, or take over and search yourself.

  2. From the game: Loru on the castle's battlements, and a small pink glow beyond the wall: Meeri, peeking.

    Spot the pink glow

Hers is the only pink light in the place, and her giggle comes from her side, more often the closer you get.

  3. Boo!

Fly close and she pops up. The two of you fly off toward the moon, and a new night begins with Meeri hiding somewhere else.

Episode 1 · Moonwick

A castle on a cliff over a moonlit lake

Moonwick is a whole island to fly: the castle and its towers, two villages, a river, the hills, and a Halloween night going on in every corner. Most of it notices you when you fly yourself.

From the game: the great hall's long tables laid for a feast, banners on the walls and candles floating overhead, with ghosts among the guests.

The great hall

A Halloween feast under floating candles. Most nights the film flies in through the stained glass.

From the game: Loru among small trees hung with glowing lanterns on a terraced hillside.

The lantern orchard

On Wick Hill the lamps grow on trees. When they're ripe, they float off to the moon.

From the game: a round tower room lined with racks of lit lanterns, Loru drifting through it.

The lamp room

Nobody lights the lamps inside Wyrmspire. They lift off the racks and drift up the tower.

From the game: a small red wyrm curled asleep in a glowing nest under the spire, the wyrm's door open to the night.

The wyrm's nest

Six rooms up, under the spire, a baby wyrm sleeps on the hoard and blows smoke rings.

From the game: Loru over Underhill's square at night, its lit houses, a market cross, stalls and a crowd at a puppet show.

Underhill

The second village, with a fair in the square and a puppet show.

From the game: villagers holding hands in a ring round a beacon fire on a dark hillside, Loru flying past.

The beacon

A ring dance round the fire on the hill above Underhill.

From the game: Loru under a bright full moon over snowy mountains.

The sky

The moon is always up. Clouds cross it, a star falls, and far off, now and then, a little lightning.

Also out tonight: a princess and her frog on the west tower, a count who turns into a bat and back, witches dancing at the stones, owls that turn their heads right round, little spiders on silk, and a cottage on hen's legs that freezes when you look at it.

Every picture in this section is a frame from the game.

A painting of Underhill's fair at night: striped stalls under strings of lights, townsfolk in the square, a puppet booth, a bridge over the river and the castle on its cliff in the distance, with Loru gliding along the water.

Underhill's fairShe's in this painting too. Can you spot her?
